Alsheimers disease results in the brain nerve cells deteriorating faster than with normal age related dementia. These cells communicate via impulses but in a patient suffering from Alzhimers (Alzimers), this signal path is disrupted.

The brain cells will have a problem communicating when there is scar tissue created in the brain. This scar tissue will block signals between brain cells or partially block the signalling through impules that have a problem passing through. This condition will inevitably create a very slow destruction of the brain. During the span of Alzimer's disease in its normal progression rate, the brain of a patient can lose much its weight, often up to half of the normal weight when the patient is in the third and final Alzhimers stage of the Alzheimers disease.
Someone with Altzheimer's disease will develop what is called amyloid plaques (these are a type of clumps) and a neurofibrillary tangle-up in the brain. There will be a higher than normal death rate of brain cells due to this in some parts of the brain, mainly the parts responsible for memory, recognition and speech. The chemical substance that carries the signalling between the cells is also at a considerably lower level than it would be normally and the deficiency of these neurotransmitters result in brain cell damage leading to much of the normal brain work as the signalling being disturbed.
It is frequent that there are damages to the cells handling creation of the substance responsible for signalling, these substances are called neurotransmitters. These highly specialized cells are usually found in the frontal part of the brain. It is fairly frequent that there are other types of signalling substances also getting affected. Brain parts with smaller damage seem to be the visual and hearing centers as well as the motoric centers leads to a certain pattern of Altzehimers symptoms.
Alsheimers disease is suspected to have more than one original cause, it is probably a combination of causes and effects. Altzimers disease is believed to have a hereditary part as nearly a 25% of all patiens have at least one relative with Alzheimers. Downs syndrom patients (born with an extra chromosome with the number 21) have a higher risk of developing Alzhimers. Alzhemers has not in any of its forms yet been connected to a virus infection but there is still a small risk that a virus could be one of the reasons for an onset of Alzimers disease.
Alzimers disease, or Alzhimers (Altzhimers) is a dementia condition responsible for slowly destroying the brain cells. Alsheimers primarily affects people over 60-65, although Alzehimers (Alsheimers) can appear in lower ages. The condition will eventually lead to hospitalization and the death of the patient.
